We provide sports coaches to deliver sessions in the community
We are proud of our long-standing partnership with Stockfield Community Organisation, where we provide sports coaches to deliver Multi Sports and Dance sessions in the community. Over the last few years, we have nurtured young people from the sessions to gain their coaching qualifications, and helped them into work experience at our Holiday Camps. We work with Morrisons in Acocks Green so the young people can collect donations to go towards equipment for their sessions; last Xmas, they raised over £450 to go towards their football kit, and affiliation to a league which they will join for 2022/23.
New from November 2022, our experienced coach Joe has increased his hours to be able to create links, nurture partnerships and respond to consultation from the young people; he has already set up a homework club on Friday nights, and is currently working with one of our female mentors to set up Girls only activities.
We also provide staff for Stockfield's Fun Days, and link with Birmingham Play Care Network and Arts in the Yard to provide events for the local community where all can take part and have fun!
FITCAP and Oasis Hobmoor have worked together for a few years now, providing coaches for their activities such as Holiday Camps and Youth Club. We have also shared resources in the past such as our minibus and van to transport food parcels during Covid, as well as event materials.
We are currently working together to form a Volunteer-Coach Pathway, that is recognised and structured for the young people to participate in, completing voluntary hours in return for places on accredited courses. It's important for both of our organisations to produce high-quality and confident coaches, competent and professional to deliver sessions in the community, and continue the pathway momentum.
Since returning to activity delivery, we have re-established our partnership with CARS Area Together, the Big Local organisation based in Smiths Wood. We have a member of staff who does 1 day a week (Demi) to help them deliver on their strategy and increase health and well-being opportunities for local residents.
We provide staff for their Fit n Fed programmes during the holidays, and we are currently working on a Young Leaders project where we can help upskill young people in the community.
